Cladding

Cladding

Cladding

Our studios come with the choice of two cladding options, both of which are aesthetically pleasing and highly durable.  Our preferred choice of Western Red Cedar cladding expresses a subtle red texture whilst the more cost effective option of Scandinavian Pine provides a stronger grain which is equally attractive.  We’ve ensured through our design that both woods compliment the studio and the surrounding environment.

Option 1: Western Red Cedar

Cedar has a great natural ability to dampen sound vibrations and good thermal insulation properties.  This takes advantage over other materials such as PVCU and metal, commonly used in the construction industry.

Option 2: Custom  Alternatively, if you would prefer a different type of cladding, such as Siberian Larch, Oak, Scandinavian Pine or even a colour, then this is something we can implement.

Doubled glazed, argon filled window panes are used as standard within our studios.  They offer high insulation properties which provides comfort in the winter as well as in the summer.

Foundations

Foundations

Foundations

Garden Offices require a sufficient foundation for the building to sit on.  There are typically two options which we use.  The first being a standard concrete slab and the second, our preferred choice, is a concrete plinth system.

Please note that foundations are not included as standard within the studio prices.  Please enquire for a Quote.

Concrete plinths are far more economical, eco-friendly and less obtrusive.  They act as supporting feet below the base of the timber structure and displace the weight into the ground through the concrete plinths.  The advantage of this system allows for less excavation and can be laid quickly and efficiently onto uneven ground, without any levelling required.  Not only that, but if you required the studio to be moved, the concrete plinths can be reused again!

Concrete Plinths:

•    95% less concrete than a slab
•    No wet mix needed
•    Portable - Easy site access
•    Adjustable - Easy levelling
•    Allows air flow under building
•    Avoids ground moisture
•    Prevents rain splash back
•    No specialist skills required
•    Re-position and re-useable
•    100% Recyclable

Flooring

Flooring

Flooring

The flooring for our Garden Studios is your decision, however, our most popular choice is a Hardwood European Oak.  For the working environment a carpeted floor with underlay may work better as it can dampen sounds more efficiently.  We would be more than happy to present to you various samples or recommend ideas for flooring should you want.

Services

Services

Services

All our garden rooms come with a range of services available to you to ensure the space you are looking for will meet your expectations.  As standard, lighting both inside and out, electrical sockets, independent fuse board and heating are included in our quotes and costs.

Also, for security purposes, motion sensing ‘PIR’ detectors are wired in to the outside of the studio to activate the outside lights when approaching the studio.  Not only for security, but for convenience as it allows the user to see where they are stepping in the dark.

Other options which aren’t standard, but can be incorporated at your request range from internet connections, phone lines, TV points, audio installations and outdoor power sockets.

A popular optional extra for privacy reasons are for internal roller blinds to be incorporated on the glazing elements of the build.  Designed into the ceiling in its own recessed area, this ensures they are as unobtrusive as possible.

If you have other requirements not included above, please enquire and we will most likely be able to accommodate your needs.

Heating

Heating

Heating

To ensure the temperature of your studio is sufficiently warm, an electric heater is built in as standard to provide the necessary heat.  Thermostatically controlled to maintain an optimum room temperature, the panel heater is of a modern appearance with either black or white glass face finishes.

Insulation within our studios is a crucial element to providing a comfortable internal living space.  100mm rigid insulation boards are embedded into all the exposed walls, floors and ceiling, which ensures the heat is retained within the room and doesn’t result in any heat loss and unnecessary heating costs.  For maximum thermal insulation, we use a secondary level of insulation known as a ‘thermo reflective’ membrane which is essentially a special foil helping to reflect any heat back into the internal space and creates an air tight room.  As a Garden Studio is exposed on all sides unlike a room in a house which may only have one or two elevations exposed to the outdoors, it is important to provide sufficient insulation properties which we have ensured.
