Doors/Windows

We have designed the studio so that the entrance into the room is not your typical single opening door.  Instead, through the use of a bi-folding door arrangement, the whole elevation of the garden studio can be folded to the side to allow the internal and external spaces to mix.  As aesthetics play a crucial role within our studios, the bi-folding doors are designed to fold back against the Accoya surround and neatly tuck under the cantilever roof section, giving the doors a hidden appearance when opened.

Our bi-folding doors use the best ironmongery and track system available, ensuring the smooth functional operation and longevity over a prolonged use over time.  Alternatively, sliding doors and basic butt hinged doors may suit your design or to your liking and can of course be incorporated into your gardens studios design.  Doors are available in Timber Cedar Clad or Doubled Glazed finishes.

Floor to ceiling windows are typically used in our studios to create the seamless transition of spaces.  Using the same solid hardwood and sustainably sourced timber as the doors, the clean lines and contemporary look add to the aesthetics of the garden studio.  Velux roof windows are also available.

Should you want to match the colour of your doors and windows with a colour of your preference, then this can be achieved with the RAL colour reference.

Kitchen

Kitchen

A kitchen area in the studio can be ideal for those that perhaps want to entertain and eat outside or for the simple convenient and accessible services that a kitchen can provide.  Our manufacturing and design facilities allows us to build the kitchen in-house and can be installed simultaneously with the studio.  The plumbing is typically connected to the dwelling house and can be incorporated at the same time as the services are laid between the two.

Alternatively, should you wish to outsource the kitchen, we can assist with the installation and provide the necessary services.

Roof

Roof

Roof

There are two options for the roof.  The standard being the EPDM rubber roofing system and the other being a more sustainable choice is a living green sedum roof.

The roof on a studio is flat in appearance, however, a carefully designed taper in the roof pitch allows for the water to flow to the back of the garden room ensuring no water is sitting still on the roof for a prolonged period of time.  This is then drained to the side of the studio through an attractive custom built open aluminium chute.

Although people may be sceptical with flat roofs as historically they have been known to fault, the technology has improved dramatically since, and is now EPDM is a very common and popular system used on many flat roofs due to its exceptional durability and performance.  The membrane comes with a standard 15 year guarantee for your peace of mind.

Standard Option: EPDM Rubber Roof

EPDM offers unmatched resistance to ozone, UV radiation, extremes of both high and low temperatures, and ultimately ageing.  Installed as a single membrane there are no joints, minimising the chance of a leak.

Upgrade Option: EPDM Rubber Roof + Sedum Green Roof

The green roof consists of the same materials and membranes as the standard roof system but with an additional vapour barrier and filtration system along with the sedum planting.  There are several advantages of using a green roof, not only visually but also added sound and heat insulation and many sustainable benefits.  The sedum is practically zero maintenance and is incredibly durable, living for weeks without rain or light.

Decking

Decking

Decking

We have carefully selected our decking to fit in with the overall studio design, complementing the cladding and other finishes.  The extremely durable Accoya wood forms a striking contrast to the darker window and door frames.

We at in.it.studios feel that good aesthetic design choices are an important element to enhance the overall appearance of the studio.  However, all materials have been carefully selected not just for their appearance but also for their durability and natural qualities which is an equally important aspect to consider.

Doubled glazed, argon filled window panes are used as standard within our studios.  They offer high insulation properties which provides comfort in the winter as well as in the summer.

Lighting

Lighting

As lighting is an integral part of design, albeit a subtle and often left as a secondary thought in architectural design, we feel that lighting is an important aesthetical aspect of our studios, bringing the space to life after dark.

The lighting arrangement is fully customisable and designed to suit each studio.  Typically we use an arrangement of adjustable halogen downlighters with a satin chrome finish to match all the other fixtures and fittings.  Low power lighting or LED lighting can be incorporated if required.

Flooring

Flooring

The flooring for our Garden Studios is your decision, however, our most popular choice is a Hardwood European Oak.  For the working environment a carpeted floor with underlay may work better as it can dampen sounds more efficiently.  We would be more than happy to present to you various samples or recommend ideas for flooring should you want.

Services

Services

Services

All our garden rooms come with a range of services available to you to ensure the space you are looking for will meet your expectations.  As standard, lighting both inside and out, electrical sockets, independent fuse board and heating are included in our quotes and costs.

Also, for security purposes, motion sensing ‘PIR’ detectors are wired in to the outside of the studio to activate the outside lights when approaching the studio.  Not only for security, but for convenience as it allows the user to see where they are stepping in the dark.

Other options which aren’t standard, but can be incorporated at your request range from internet connections, phone lines, TV points, audio installations and outdoor power sockets.

A popular optional extra for privacy reasons are for internal roller blinds to be incorporated on the glazing elements of the build.  Designed into the ceiling in its own recessed area, this ensures they are as unobtrusive as possible.

If you have other requirements not included above, please enquire and we will most likely be able to accommodate your needs.

Heating

Heating

Heating

To ensure the temperature of your studio is sufficiently warm, an electric heater is built in as standard to provide the necessary heat.  Thermostatically controlled to maintain an optimum room temperature, the panel heater is of a modern appearance with either black or white glass face finishes.

Insulation within our studios is a crucial element to providing a comfortable internal living space.  100mm rigid insulation boards are embedded into all the exposed walls, floors and ceiling, which ensures the heat is retained within the room and doesn’t result in any heat loss and unnecessary heating costs.  For maximum thermal insulation, we use a secondary level of insulation known as a ‘thermo reflective’ membrane which is essentially a special foil helping to reflect any heat back into the internal space and creates an air tight room.  As a Garden Studio is exposed on all sides unlike a room in a house which may only have one or two elevations exposed to the outdoors, it is important to provide sufficient insulation properties which we have ensured.
