Kitchen

A kitchen area in the studio can be ideal for those that perhaps want to entertain and eat outside or for the simple convenient and accessible services that a kitchen can provide.  Our manufacturing and design facilities allows us to build the kitchen in-house and can be installed simultaneously with the studio.  The plumbing is typically connected to the dwelling house and can be incorporated at the same time as the services are laid between the two.

Alternatively, should you wish to outsource the kitchen, we can assist with the installation and provide the necessary services.

Roof

Roof

Roof

There are two options for the roof.  The standard being the EPDM rubber roofing system and the other being a more sustainable choice is a living green sedum roof.

The roof on a studio is flat in appearance, however, a carefully designed taper in the roof pitch allows for the water to flow to the back of the garden room ensuring no water is sitting still on the roof for a prolonged period of time.  This is then drained to the side of the studio through an attractive custom built open aluminium chute.

Although people may be sceptical with flat roofs as historically they have been known to fault, the technology has improved dramatically since, and is now EPDM is a very common and popular system used on many flat roofs due to its exceptional durability and performance.  The membrane comes with a standard 15 year guarantee for your peace of mind.

Standard Option: EPDM Rubber Roof

EPDM offers unmatched resistance to ozone, UV radiation, extremes of both high and low temperatures, and ultimately ageing.  Installed as a single membrane there are no joints, minimising the chance of a leak.

Upgrade Option:
EPDM Rubber Roof + Sedum Green Roof

The green roof consists of the same materials and membranes as the standard roof system but with an additional vapour barrier and filtration system along with the sedum planting.  There are several advantages of using a green roof, not only visually but also added sound and heat insulation and many sustainable benefits.  The sedum is practically zero maintenance and is incredibly durable, living for weeks without rain or light.

Doors/Windows

Doors/Windows

Doors/Windows

We have designed the studio so that the entrance into the room is not your typical single opening door.  Instead, through the use of a bi-folding door arrangement, the whole elevation of the garden studio can be folded to the side to allow the internal and external spaces to mix.  As aesthetics play a crucial role within our studios, the bi-folding doors are designed to fold back against the Accoya surround and neatly tuck under the cantilever roof section, giving the doors a hidden appearance when opened.

Our bi-folding doors use the best ironmongery and track system available, ensuring the smooth functional operation and longevity over a prolonged use over time.  Alternatively, sliding doors and basic butt hinged doors may suit your design or to your liking and can of course be incorporated into your gardens studios design.  Doors are available in Timber Cedar Clad or Doubled Glazed finishes.

Floor to ceiling windows are typically used in our studios to create the seamless transition of spaces.  Using the same solid hardwood and sustainably sourced timber as the doors, the clean lines and contemporary look add to the aesthetics of the garden studio.  Velux roof windows are also available.

Should you want to match the colour of your doors and windows with a colour of your preference, then this can be achieved with the RAL colour reference.

Services

Services

Services

All our garden rooms come with a range of services available to you to ensure the space you are looking for will meet your expectations.  As standard, lighting both inside and out, electrical sockets, independent fuse board and heating are included in our quotes and costs.

Also, for security purposes, motion sensing ‘PIR’ detectors are wired in to the outside of the studio to activate the outside lights when approaching the studio.  Not only for security, but for convenience as it allows the user to see where they are stepping in the dark.

Other options which aren’t standard, but can be incorporated at your request range from internet connections, phone lines, TV points, audio installations and outdoor power sockets.

A popular optional extra for privacy reasons are for internal roller blinds to be incorporated on the glazing elements of the build.  Designed into the ceiling in its own recessed area, this ensures they are as unobtrusive as possible.

If you have other requirements not included above, please enquire and we will most likely be able to accommodate your needs.

Flooring

Flooring

Flooring

The flooring for your studio is completely up to you.  We would recommend a hardwood flooring such as oak, which is probably our most popular choice, but other options are available.  For the working environment a carpeted floor may work better as it can dampen sounds.  We would be more than happy to present to you sample or ideas for flooring should you want.

Cladding

Cladding

Cladding

Our standard cladding of Western Red Cedar is a highly durable wood which requires zero maintenance and will last a minimum of 60 years.  It expresses subtle red tones and is very attractive with almost all our studios clad in this sustainably sourced timber.

Alternatively, should you prefer a different type of cladding, such as Siberian Larch, Oak, Scandinavian Pine or even a painted colour, then this is something we can certainly implement.

Decking

Decking

Decking

The addition of decking with a garden studio is a perfect way to compliment the room and extend the floor space into the garden.  The incorporation of our large frameless bi-folding doors allows for the internal space to blend with the external, creating that indoor/outdoor feel.  Through extending the decking area it allows for your studio to become part of the garden thus creating a place of tranquillity and relaxation.  A decking area, large or small, allows for an array of uses.  From entertaining, eating, relaxing or sunbathing, the options are yours.

WC

WC

A toilet or bathroom facility within the studio can provide a convenient necessity.  The inclusion of a toilet, basin or even a shower can take out that walk back to the house and provide an easily accessible amenity.  The WC would be connected to the available plumbing services which is typically an adjacent dwelling.

Bookshelves

Bookshelves

A bespoke fitted bookshelf arrangement works well with the studio to maximise upon space and to provide you with the necessary storage.  We can manufacture and incorporate bookshelves whilst erecting the studio or alternatively install them at a later date.  Designed to fit the space and your requirements, bookshelves are a popular choice.  Typically we use birch ply to match the finishes of the internal walls, however, our manufacturing facilities are not limited and we are open to incorporating a design that works for you.
